The Department of the Treasury announced today that the IRS will extend additional key tax deadlines for individuals and businesses. Last month, the filing and payment deadlines for taxpayers was extended from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020. Today’s notice expands this relief to additional returns, tax payments and other actions.
As a result, all taxpayers that have a filing or payment deadline between April 1, 2020 and July 15, 2020 have until July 15, 2020 to file a return or make a payment. This includes estimated tax payments originally due on April 15, 2020 and June 15, 2020. Those payments are now both due on July 15, 2020.
